With two upcoming seasons secured, "Outlander" has proven itself to be a strong force on television. While the show is currently in production for "Outlander" Season 3, actor Sam Heughan remedied the "Droughtlander" with some details about the series.

In an interview with Elle, Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser, confirmed that filming is in full swing in Scotland, and that they've just finished the first two episodes of Season 3.

"Outlander" Season 3 is based on "Voyager", the third book in Diana Gabaldon's fantasy series. Heughan teased that there's a lot to look forward to in "Outlander" Season 3, which he described as "very strong, very exciting."

"If the second season was very political - a lot of intrigue, and even Diana Gabaldon said it's a hard book to adapt - I think the third book is the one everyone's excited about," Heughan shared.

In the second season finale, Caitriona Balfe's Claire Randall bid farewell to Jamie as she once again travelled through the stones in order to save their baby. In "Outlander" Season 3, Claire and Jamie will reunite after several years, and their reunion will come with some tensions following years of separation.

"So much time passes by-20 years-the characters are apart and together again, so there's some big emotional stuff," Heughan added.

Aside from his love story with Claire, Jamie's storyline will get even more interesting in "Outlander" Season 3. In a previous interview, actress Nell Hudson revealed that her character, Laoghaire, might pose a threat to Claire and Jamie's relationship. In Season 2, bits of Jamie's feelings for Laoghaire were shown, and there's a huge chance that their romance might be explored even further in the upcoming season.

"There's a sort of purity to Laoghaire's love for Jamie. Despite all her [scheming], she's not a bad person, really. Had a parallel universe happened, maybe there'd be a happy ending for Laoghaire and Jamie," Nell told TVLine.

Moreover, "Outlander" will take viewers to new destinations, as the show is heading to South Africa for filming. Due to the filming changes, there's a chance "Outlander" Season 3 might take longer to finish, and the premiere might be a bit late.
