Facebook has recently launched 'Events,' a new application that will give users the idea about where to go with their friends on their free time.

In a post from Facebook, the company said, "we're announcing Events from Facebook, a new app we designed for event seekers who are passionate about keeping up with nearby events and finding things to do with their friends. Whether you're looking for something to attend this weekend or just wondering what's happening in your area, Events will help get you there."

The new app lets users see quickly on new events that their friends are interested in going to. These events are those from the Pages which your friends have liked and those events which you have already connected to.

'Events' helps users to find activities they need to attend do simply by browsing event recommendations based on the users' interests.

What's more interesting with Events from Facebook is that it will let you explore different activities or events that are happening where you are or in places where you like to go using the interactive map. Moreover, the Events app will also allow you to search for events in any city where you are planning to have a trip.

"You can keep track of all of your upcoming events in the calendar, which lets you see which days you're already attending an event and when you're free," Facebook said.

In addition, Events also allows users to choose calendars they want to add from their phone and view them alongside their Facebook events so that it would be easier for them to make plans.

As to the design of the app, Slash Gear said that the Events from Facebook which, as they say is not new anymore, adapts Facebook's ubiquitous blue branding, with navigation tabs at the bottom.

As of today, Events is only available in the App Store for iPhone users in the US today. But Android users should not be sad as Facebook promised that it will be available for them soon.
