With the celebration of Cleveland's capturing the 2016 NBA Championship still fresh in his mind, Lebron James is planning a repeat of last year's performance and the first item in his agenda is for Cleveland to re-sign his teammate and partner Kyrie Irving.
While it is clear that James played the major role in winning the championship with his grand skills and competitive spirit, it was Irving who was the catalyst that inspired the team to victory. Lebron James understands the positive chemistry that Irving brings to the team and is quick to acknowledge his vital contribution.
The diminutive Irving's fighting spirit and spectacular making are what separates him from the other point guards in the league. This was shown in the 2016 NBA finals series when he outplayed Stephen Curry, the most valuable player and star of Golden State Warriors, a team that beat them in the 2015 Finals.
NBA analysts predict that the present Cavaliers team will make it back to the 2017 championship finals to defend its current title. They believe that Kyrie Irving will again play his vital role in capturing next year's championship so Lebron James wants Kyrie Irving to renew his contract and re-sign with Cavs.
NBA fans recall the spectacular performance of James and Irving in game 5 of the 2016 finals when they scored 41 points apiece. They are now comparing the James-Irving tandem with likes of the legendary Michael Jordan/Scottie Pippen duo of the Chicago Bulls and the Kobe Bryant/Shaquille O'Neal twosome of the multi-titled Los Angeles Lakers.
Analysts believe that the partnership of Lebron James and Kyrie Irving will endure and they will become one of the favorite duos in NBA history.
Opposing teams have become stronger and more competitive because of player trading and transfers. Cleveland has announced that team needs more work and team building efforts to accomplish their goal in the forthcoming year.
