Nintendo has been clear, amidst demands from the fans and critics, that they will not release any more details about the much-anticipated video game console Nintendo Switch until early 2017. But details get revealed one way or another, especially now with Nintendo President teasing on new features.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima explains that what is showcased in the trailer is the core video game console of the Nintendo Switch, but it is not everything Switch has to offer. The Switch is said to have additional devices in the form of add-on hardware and accessories. Having the hold-up of Nintendo on releasing any more details on the console, there were no more reveals beyond this.

However, given the strategy of Nintendo in their video game consoles as proven with Wii and Wii U over the past years, having a variety of different interactive accessories is not all that surprising. Also, taking a closer look into the Switch shows possibilities of different accessories interacting with the console the same way the joy-con controllers can be "switched" on and off the portable screen.

A further speculation on possible additional hardware can come in the form of virtual reality or VR gaming. Sony Playstation VR has just recently been released, with positive reviews dominating over negative criticism.  It appears that the direction of gaming is geared towards the exploration of this new feature.

Other sources elaborate on some of the features of the core Switch console. The portable screen is said to be at 6.2" in size, boasts a 720p display, and a capacitive multi-touch screen. All these features come as firsts for Nintendo handheld game consoles.

The latest version of the Nintendo 3ds still requires a stylus for interacting with its secondary touch screen, and none of its games have ever hit a 720p display. Nintendo Switch seems to be geared to competing with the major consoles dominating the field both in the traditional video game consoles and in the portable console categories.
