The NBA reigning champs Cleveland Cavaliers started their season with an opening win against the New York Knicks. With a good start , there are still NBA rumors about the Cavaliers getting Derrick Rose late in the postseason to be a backup for their current starters. Rose just got traded to the Knicks this off season but the former Bulls guard could get another detour as the season progresses.

Snatching their first ever title last June against the Golden State Warriors, the Cavaliers are looking to defend their crown this season by acquiring a solid backup guard to their roster through trade. The Cavaliers are reportedly eyeing Rose to backup Kyrie Irving according to The Gospel Herald. Such an addition to their team would help them against other teams that have recently made blockbuster trades and acquisitions.

Golden State has recently acquired Kevin Durant during free agency and adds another player of superstar caliber to their team. Atlanta also made big changes by acquiring Dwight Howard while Oklahoma acquired 2013 2nd overall pick Victor Oladipo according to an ESPN player movement report.

The Cavaliers getting Derrick Rose might be a result of Jordan McRae's(Cavaliers Guard)expiring contract and injury problems. Mcrae just got off from a knee surgery and starting guard Kyrie Irving also appears to have calf problems during the preseason. Irving is experiencing some tightness in his calf and this would likely limit his playing time as the season progresses.

It would be a good deal for the Cavaliers to get Rose to fill in for Irving's spot and give quality minutes as a back up. Irving could also play as a shooting guard which would take off some stress on him as Rose plays the point guard position.

Are the Cavaliers getting Derrick Rose? This NBA season is indeed a must watch.
