Sylvester Stallone will play the role of a mob boss in the upcoming film "Idol's Eye", a thriller to be directed by Frenchman Olivier Assayas. He is replacing Robert De Niro, who was the original actor slated to play the part.

The film also stars Robert Pattinson and Rachel Weisz. With such great actors in the film, it is no wonder movie fans are anticipating another blockbuster.

Sylvester Stallone is still in an exhilarated mode after getting excellent fans feedbacks and an Oscar nomination for his last film The Creed. The upcoming film will be a challenging one and a little different from the "Expendables" films that he starred in not so long ago.

The film's plot is about a thief (Robert Pattinson) who steals from Chicago mob boss Tony Accardo (played by Sylvester Stallone) a blue diamond, an object of great interest and the title of the film "Idol's Eye". Interconnected clashes between the thief, the mob boss and the FBI raise the film to an exciting crescendo.

Shooting for the 25$ million film "Idol's Eye" is set to start in Toronto in the early part of 2017. International sales on the film will be handled by Lotus Entertainment while US rights will be handled by WME Global.

Originally announced in 2014, the film did not take up because of difficulties in the financial aspect. Asked about the unexpected delay, French director Assayas said that it is "a long painful horror story. Let's just say that did it put me off being involved with these kinds of projects in any kind of way in the foreseeable future."

Heist thriller films are always top favorites of movie fans especially if actors like Sylvester Stallone play the lead. Producers Michael Benaroya, Scott Lambert, Charles Gillibert, Alexandra Milchan and Scott Stuber are co-producers for the "Idol's Eye" film.
