The latest Huawei centerpiece mobile phone Mate 9 is about to enter the US market and is positioned to compete with iPhone and Pixel. Interest on the product is on the rise and media reports about its features are coming in.

If one holds the Huawei Mate 9 in his hands, he will immediately notice that it is a "phablet", bigger than smart phone but smaller than a tablet. It fits comfortably in bigger hands but a bit large for small hands.

The Huawei Mate 9 has a display size of 5.9 inches, convenient enough for watching web videos. According to Ben Sim at Forbes, it is an improvement of the last Huawei phone, the P9 which has box-like features. The Mate 9 has more rounded edges and a curved backside which makes it easier to hold.

Those who are used to handle bigger phones like the Xiaomi 6.4 inch Mi Mix might find the Huawei Mate 9 a bit smaller for comfort. The Mate 9 uses Android 7.0 (Nougat) system unlike most android phones that still use the outdated Android 6.0.

The excellent dual camera set-up associated with the Leica brand that made the Huawei P9 a gem has been maintained in Mate 9.  Its camera's software brings many features like filtering options, special effects and other tricks that make the Huawei Mate 9 a fun phone to use.

Scrolling on the Huawei Mate 9 is much easier since it features the vertical scroll instead of the usual horizontal. The latest EMUI 5.0 version makes it easier for users to control the use of apps since there is only one notification page. The 4,000 maH battery is great and can easily last six hours before recharging.

When Huawei Mate 9 was in launched, the company claimed that it is the fastest smart  phone in the market. The Kirin 960 chip is installed in the phone which can store one's using habits for easier recall.  Sam Rutherford of tomsguide.com confirms that Huawei Mate 9 indeed is very fast phone, faster than the competition.
