Following the long line of sequels dating back from the original creation released in 1979, the latest film "Amityville: The Awakening" is scheduled to hit theaters in January 2017. Recent reports feature Bella Thorne and Jennifer Jason Leigh as the chosen lead actors in this upcoming film.

Curiously, this film was once scheduled to debut in January of 2015. However, several major changes affecting the production have pushed the release date much further. After moving the date in April of 2016, the production team delayed the opening night for several months due to a number of proposed major editions after its initial screening tests.

In essence, "Amityville: The Awakening" was two years' worth of intense deliberation. According to a report featured in Christian Today, this film is being directed by Franck Khafloun - the man behind the 2012 French psychological thriller "Maniac" and the 2007 horror film "P2."

An article published by Game N Guide reveals the plot of "Amityville: The Awakening". This film features the story of a girl named Belle (Bella Thorne) who unwittingly moved with his family in the infamous Amityville Mansion. The mysterious nature of the house is revealed following a series of unnatural occurrences which includes the miraculous recovery of her twin brother from a terminal disease.

It is important to take note, however, that the "Amityville" film series was not included in the list of top four box office horror films of 2016. An article featured in Jobs & Hire includes its rival, "Paranormal Activity" as the fourth most lucrative series as of November 2, 2016.

Perhaps "Amityville: The Awakening" is going to make its epic box office record break. This film received a PG-13 rating by the Motion Picture Association of America. This evaluation was a result of several scenes rife with extreme violence and strong language - many of which were cut by the director throughout its production.
