Rapper Soulja Boy was thrown off an American Airlines flight after refusing to sit down while the attendants announced pre-flight safety measures last Friday.
While the exact reason is still unclear, the stubborn 23-year old was asked to take his seat more than once, with Soulja Boy preferring to hang out on the aisle than to simply follow orders. The Kiss Me Through the Phone star, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, was then intervened by two officers. He then realized that the authorities meant business so he packed his luggage and exited the plane. He was due for a show in Brazil but it seems like his performance is bound to be rescheduled.
"It was a bad night and me and the flight staff didn't see eye to eye. In hindsight, I'm extremely sorry for all inconvenience caused to the passengers and employees of the airline," Soulja Boy says, after being thrown off the flight bound for Miami.
This isn't the first time American Airlines clashed with a celebrity on board. In 2011, Alec Baldwin lashed on a flight attendant after refusing to turn off his phone and was later on thrown off the flight. He was busy playing Words with Friends. One of the passengers of the 2011 flight recalls, "He got up threw his papers on the floor stormed into the bathroom slammed the door closed, beat on the wall and then came back." Compared to the 30 Rock star, Soulja Boy took the incident with more grace.
The Crank That hitmaker may have already apologized to American Airlines but later on tweeted to Virgin America Airlines, "@VirginAmerica best airlines", to which Virgin replied, "@souljaboy Xo".
Looks like the ambitious rapper should have really bought that $55 million G5 he was claiming.
