The hype is real! It's been twenty years since the first appearance of this cute yet powerful pocket monsters we call Pokémon. Two decades of continuous success have never dulled their convincing power as they never failed to break their own records.

"Pokémon Sun and Moon" reached sky high as Nintedo announced today that they have already sold 3.7 million copies in the US in just two weeks crowning the game as the fastest selling game published by Nintendo in Uncle Sam's soil.

According to Techradar, the latest instalment of the Pokémon series overtook Nintendo's previous title holder for the fastest-selling game. "Pokémon Sun and Moon" surpassed "Pokémon X and Y's" previous record with a whopping 85 percent increase.

The game also fared extremely well among the Europeans as reported by The Verge. "Pokémon Sun and Moon" sold 1.5 million units in Europe with the 360,000 copies coming from the UK alone. Overall the series have already distributed 280 million units worldwide.

The new features of the game like the new setting, 3D fight animations and new pokémons are some of the reasons behind the success of the game. Another is the success of the smartphone phenomenon Pokémon GO. Nintendo claimed that the augmented reality game triggered large sale boosts to other products of the Pokémon franchise.

With the continuous success of "Pokémon Sun and Moon", it is believed that the rumoured spin-off "Pokémon Stars" will more likely to push through. The third entry Pokémon game is speculated to be a game that will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

This will make "Pokémon stars to be the first ever Pokémon game to be released on a console rather than the handheld ones. Considering the wave created by "Sun and Moon" there is no better time for the franchise to make its console debut.
