"Super Mario Run" will be Nintendo's first entry into the mobile gaming market, a good move considering the Mario brand's association with the company. For security reasons, though, the new game will only be playable if the user is connected to the internet, which makes it harder for players.

Mashable had a chat with series creator Shigeru Miyamoto and he said that being able to ensure that the "software is secure" is their main reason why "Super Mario Run" can only be played with an internet connection. He said that they are continuing to work on ensuring the security of the game.

He did say they thought of making the story mode of "Super Mario Run World Tour" available online. "But then the challenge is when that's operating in a standalone mode, it actually complicates the connection back to the Toad Rally and Kingdom modes."

When Miyamoto was talking about security, what he really meant is being secure against piracy. He said the game will not be launched in limited countries,

We're launching in 150 countries and each of those countries has different network environments and things like that," he said. "So it was important for us to be able to have it secure for all users."

Though Nintendo meant well, this move would make it hard for everyone to play the game. PCMag is reporting that "legitimate players" are the ones who will suffer from this requirement.

"Super Marion Run" needing an internet connection to play would mean the device would be consuming more battery power, requiring the players to be connected to a power outlet more often than they should. Requiring an internet connection also doesn't really solve the problem, as the game will eventually be pirated anyway.

"Super Mario Run" is scheduled to be released on iOS on December 15. Android users will have to wait until 2017 before they can download the game. Check out Jobs&Hire for more updates about the game.
