Our long wait is over! Finally, we have an official announcement for the air date of the most anticipated second season of the anime, "Attack on Titan". Funimation announced that the hit action anime series will be premiering in April 2016. Funimation simultaneously acquired the rights for "Attack on Titan" and is set to bring the second season to US and Canada next year.

According to iDigitalTimes, it is almost 3 years since we have seen the last episode of "Attack on Titan". It instantly became a worldwide phenomenon creating a cult that spread to every nooks and corner of the globe.

"Attack on Titan became an instant hit since it first streamed in 2013 and we are thrilled to bring fans the long-awaited Season 2 of the series," said Funimation CEO and founder, Gen Fukunaga . " Attack on Titan is truly a worldwide phenomenon that has continued to grow at a non-stop pace. Fans can look forward to an exciting second season."

After finishing the airing of the 25 episodes of season 1, the series went into a halt resulting into a three-year hiatus. Season 2 was confirmed last 2014 that will push for a 2016 debut, but it seems that the all doesn't go with the original plan that resulted in a 2017 premier.

Reports say that "Attack on Titan" Season 2 was delayed because of the lack of manga material to cover the whole season. There is also the rumor that directing "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" made Tetsuro Araki in conflict as he will be the Chief Director for "Attack on Titan" Season 2 pushing the air date later than expected.

While on hiatus, "Attack on Titan" kept busy in making themselves an all-out franchise. The manga was adapted into multiple side-manga series and light novels. The manga is also adapted into a two-part live-action movie that was released on August 1, 2015, and September 19, 2015, respectively.

"Attack on Titan" season 3 is set to have 20 episode that will focus on retrieving the journals left by Eren's father, Dr. Jaeger which will reveal the secret behind the titans. The promotional poster shows us Eren in his titan form, facing the Colossal and the Armored titan and in Eren's back is Mikasa, Armin and probably Capt. Levi.
