DC Comic's heroine Wonder Woman has been fired from her post as the special United Nations Ambassador. Her firing came after protests, both from inside and outside the organisation, is saying that she's not the best role model for girls.

According to The Economic Times, critics are saying that the U.N.'s appointment of Wonder Woman was tone deaf. This is because women are currently fighting against sexual exploitation and abuse, and Wonder Woman, who wears a skimpy outfit and is prone to violence, is not the right one to represent gender equality.

Critics were also saying that other, more appropriate heroine, could have represented the gender when it comes to equality. When Wonder Woman was appointed, there was no indication that it would end quickly.

UPI reports that the U.N. appointed Wonder Woman as Honorary Ambassador for the Empowerment of Women and Girls last October. Her appointment is part of an effort to raise awareness about female empowerment and gender equality.

The appointment ceremony was attended by past and present actresses who played the iconic DC comic heroine. Lynda Carter, who played Wonder Woman in the 1970's TV series, and Gal Gadot, who play the heroine in the upcoming "Wonder Woman" movie, was when she was appointed.

Also, present during the appointment ceremony was Patty Jenkins, the director of upcoming "Wonder Woman" film, and Diane Nelson, the president of DC Entertainment. A collection of girl scouts were also present and they were dressed in Wonder Woman t-shirts.

Despite the abrupt ending of the DC heroine's appointment, the U.N. believes that Wonder Woman was able to do her job. Jeffrey A. Brez, the U.N. spokesman told The Associated Press that their objective was to reach out to the fans of the heroine and he thinks they were able to do that.

DC said in a statement that they were "extremely pleased with the awareness that this partnership brought." They also said that Wonder Woman, who turned 75 this year, "stands for peace, justice, and equality."
