Every job has its share of difficulties and challenges, with some careers proven to cause more stress in workers. It's no secret that work and stress often go together, but there are some jobs that are said to be less trying than others.

Career Cast has released its annual list of the least stressful jobs of 2017, and according to the company’s official site, they used a criteria of 11 factors to determine which jobs cause less stress in the workplace. It was said that a job that requires little-to-no travel, relative anonymity from the public eye, and promising growth opportunities scores as less stressful for workers.

Here is the top 10 least stressful jobs of 2017 in America

Medical laboratory technician

This position holds the number 10 spot as it was evaluated to have a stress score of 10.31. Workers receive a median annual income of $50,550 with a growth outlook of 9%. This technical, behind-the-scenes job is very stable, and jobs for medical laboratory technicians are projected to increase at a rate of 18% through 2024, according to Rasmussen College.

Pharmacy technician

Coming up at number 9 is a pharmacy technician. Under a licensed pharmacist, these workers supply over-the-counter and prescription medicines and provide information to patients. Pharmacy techs earn a median annual income of $30,410.

Operations Research Analyst

The number 8 spot goes to an operations research analyst. These type of workers are required to have high analytical skills, and they are problem solvers who use advanced techniques to come up with solutions for businesses.

Jeweler

Number 7 goes to a worker who designs, creates, repairs, and sells jewelry. Though jewelers have a projected growth output of -11%, their stress scores are at 8.95.

Medical Records Technician

At number 6 is a medical records technician. This is another behind-the-scenes job which requires workers to transcribe and organize patients’ medical histories and symptoms.

Tenured university professor

A tenured university professor receives a median annual income of $72,470 and gets the number 5 spot on the least stressful jobs in America.

Audiologists

An audiologist uses devices to test patients’ hearing ability and balance. This job has one of the highest growth outlooks at 29% and has a low stress score of only 7.31. This is why it secured the number 4 spot on the list. It also has one of the highest median annual incomes among the top 10 at $74,890.

Hair Stylist
The person who does your hair has the third least stressful job in America. Stress score is at 5.80, but the median annual income is at the lower end, coming to a total of $23,710. However, those who have made a name in the industry or are celebrity hair stylists can earn about $58,000 annually.

Compliance Officer

Number 2 on the list is a compliance officer. This type of worker earns an annual income of around $65,000 and has a stress score of 5.73.

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

The number 1 spot in the least stressful jobs list goes to a diagnostic medical sonographer. This worker diagnoses various medical conditions by using special imaging equipment. The profession is also called ultrasound imaging, and workers can get as much as $63,000 annually.
