For most millennials, getting hired by Facebook is the ultimate in job goals. This is no surprise as the social media company is said to be one of the best places to work in America due to its impressive salaries, great corporate culture, and added perks. But what does it take to get hired at Mark Zuckerberg’s site?

According to CNBC, it could take an astounding round of interviews before an applicant gets hired at Facebook. While multiple interviews is the norm in most companies, one former employee told the media outlet that he had to go through 17 interviews before getting hired by the social media site.

“The company put me through the ringer,” said ChRiS Gomersall. “I think I had 17 interviews to get there.”

Gomersall, who served as creative strategist for Facebook from 2012 to 2015, said that the interviews were done via phone, video, and in-person. He thought that the reason behind the multiple interviews was because the position he was applying for was new.

“Then I found out that everybody at Facebook goes through the same thing,” Gomersall said.

Facebook’s global head of recruiting, Miranda Kalinowski, told Business Insider that applicants will typically go through several rounds of interviews before getting a job offer.

“We need to make sure that we’re hiring people who are deeply invested in us, first and foremost,” said Kalinowski. She added that they typically hire “builders,” and that they are more likely to hire people who like to build things regardless of what position they apply for.

Kalinowski also detailed the interview process, saying that the first round is a phone interview with a recruiter, who assesses the candidate’s professional experience and passion for the company. The next is a technical phone interview with someone who already has the job the candidate is applying for.

The third interview takes place on site, and applicants get to tour Facebook headquarters. The fourth interview is similar to going to an audition, wherein a candidate is asked to perform a task related to his or her desired role or job.

Kalinowski said that candidates who get hired are the ones who are as excited and enthusiastic as the Facebook CEO is about the work that needs to be done.

“Anyone who listens to Mark will hear him say that we’ve still got 5 billion people to connect, so no one should be resting on their laurels,” said Kalinowski.

Currently, there are 105 open Facebook positions in New York, 786 positions in Menlo Park, California, and 14 positions in Washington, D.C. Head over to Facebook’s career page to know more about these positions.
