The recent travel ban on seven countries does not include other Muslim-majority states where Trump does business. Neither are the seven countries the origin of a terrorist attacker on US soil.

Trump has banned the citizens of Iran, Iraq, Lybia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen from traveling to the United States for a period of 90 days. It is to be noted, however, that other Muslim-majority countries such as Turkey, Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia where Trump has business interests were not included in the ban, reports Independent.

There are two resorts that are under construction in Indonesia as well a line of home furnishings and two luxury towers in Turkey, all of which are branded with the Trump name. The president also has business interests in UAE such as a golf course and luxury homes.

Furthermore, the Independent writes that 9/11 attackers came from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and UAE but the aforementioned countries were not included in the ban. The reason for all of this, says Reince Priebus, Trump's Chief of Staff, is that the seven countries were identified by Congress and the Obama administration and that additional countries may be added at a later date.

Before being inaugurated for President, Trump prepared to avoid conflict of interest by formally handing over his business empire to his two sons, Eric and Donald Jr. As previously reported by Jobs & Hire, the director of the Office of Government Ethics, Walter Shaub, would have rather a blind trust been established so that the new President would not be aware of business performance.

In other news, Mitchell Goldberg, the President of Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers, stated that there is a need to revisit the Safe Third Country Agreement between the US and Canada in light of the current situation. This is because the US may no longer be seen as a safe third country and refugee claimants may take riskier means to enter Canada.
