Blake Lively is one of the most likable actresses in Hollywood, and it appears that the 29-year-old has it all in life as well. Apart from being a wife to Ryan Reynolds and a mother to their two children, the star is also an endorser for one of the biggest beauty brands in the world, L’Oreal.

As a child, Lively has been immersed in show business at an early age as her father, Ernie, is an actor, while her mother, Elaine, worked as a talent scout. And while her parents would have likely encouraged “The Shallows” actress to be in the business, they also made sure to equip her daughter with the ability to believe in herself, not just as an actress, but as a person.

Speaking with CTV’s “eTalk” (via Cosmopolitan) at the L’Oreal Women of Worth gala, the mother-of-two spoke about her mother’s advice about self-belief.

“Whatever it was, whether I was doing a school project, I was doing something creative, she would always say, ‘You can’t mess it up,’” said Lively. “I mean, I could mess it up really severely, but just the fact that she told me I couldn’t almost made me feel like I couldn’t."

Lively said that her mother’s positivity made her want to try out as an actress. She added that if it weren’t for her parent’s advice, she wouldn’t have taken the risk and “otherwise would have limited myself.”

Now that Lively is a parent herself, she shares the same message of positivity to her children, particularly when it comes to body image. In a previous interview with Refinery29 (via Elle), the “Gossip Girl” star said that she doesn’t want her daughters to grow up thinking that perfection is the ideal.

“What little girls are seeing isn’t what [these celebrities] look like when they wake up in the morning,” she said.

On an Instagram post, Lively said that L’Oreal’s iconic phrase, “Because I’m worth it,” resonates with many women for a reason.

“We are different shapes and sizes,” she wrote. “We are different colors. We are beautiful inside out…We are worth it. And we each have a story to tell.”
