A 24-year-old woman who claimed to be Taxi's star Andy Kaufman, was probably lying and trying to set a hoax when she revealed Kaufman was alive to Kaufman's brother, during the Andy Kaufman Awards in New York City Monday night.

"He just wanted to be a stay-at-home dad, because that's why he wanted to leave the show biz," she told Michael Kaufman, Andy's brother. "I know don't know how much longer he can keep everything away, he was really thinking about coming."

Nevertheless, The Smoking Gun revealed that the woman is Alexandra Tatarsky, 24, an actress Michael Kaufman met early this year while working at a Manhattan gallery that was exhibiting artifacts and "ephemera" of the comedian's life.

"Tatarsky was recruited by Michael Kaufman to play the role of Andy Kaufman's daughter. The comedian, who died of lung cancer in 1984, had one daughter (who was born in 1969)," the Smoking Gun reported.

So far, Tatarsky hasn't responded to a voice message the publication left on her cell phone.
