Jim Kelly cancer update: former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly is to battle against cancer yet again, just months after his alleged successful surgery, CBS Sports reported Friday.

It is the Jim Kelly cancer update that everyone didn't expect. After undergoing a surgical procedure June, which involved the removal of a part of his jawbone, Hall of Fame quarterback Kelly is diagnosed with cancer for the second time, and it seems that it still has something to do with his previous upper jaw cancer.

It can be noted that after undergoing invasive surgery, a Jim Kelly cancer update claiming that he was then cancer-free made headlines. Unfortunately, today things took a turn for the worse.

Just this Friday, the Erie County Medical Center formally announced on the Buffalo Bills site that Jim's cancer is back.

"Jim Kelly came to ECMC this week for continued testing related to his oral surgery," head and neck surgeon Dr. Thom Loree said in a statement. "Unfortunately, it has been determined that his cancer has returned. Our team of head and neck cancer specialists is determining a course of treatment that will allow Mr. Kelly to battle this cancer successfully. Mr. Kelly has asked that you to keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers."

Consequently, WGRZ.com released a Jim Kelly cancer update saying that the former quarterback is to leave for New York Monday for the "best treatment available."

Meanwhile, ESPN reports that Kelly has already had an initial surgery last Wednesday to relieve pain on the left side area of his face, and he is to undergo another procedure this Tuesday. Furthermore, his doctors already revealed that he is expected to have five to six weeks of radiation and chemotherapy.

"I need lots of prayers," Jim Kelly said in a statement, according to ESPN.
