Heartbleed affects millions of Android mobile devices with security issues. Experts warned that mobile devices like smartphones and tablets that are using Google android operating system with an old version from 2012 is vulnerable to security issues and glitches, will also allow hackers access to important data like passwords.
The Heartbleed security flaw was discovered last week and millions of Google operating systems that runs on tablets and smartphones are immune to this bug. Google has expressed its assurance to its Android users that their mobile platform is safe from Heartbleed issues, pointing out that some very limited exception. Those who may be affected by the bug are the ones that uses a 2012 version of their mobile platform, which may account to millions of mobile devices.
Security experts said on Bloomberg that heartbleed can be found in the unsecured mobile platform, which are used in some of the most known brands of smartphones and tablets, like Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony, and more. An estimated 34% of all outdated running version of android mobile devices are vulnerable to the heartbleed bug.
The heartbleed bug sent panic and concern to a lot of computer users and websites since it was reported last week, while companies already provided fixes and analysis programs to combat the problem. Some devices that also has the flaw already got some patches to eliminate the issue, and mobile device creators are already starting to create updates in order to safeguard their consumers. Reports have been made that the process in order to battle these flaw will take some time.
During the discovery of heartbleed, tech consumers are rattled with concerns over its effect on their computers, while millions of websites were considered victim from this flaw. Popular websites like Yahoo, Flickr, Imgur, Outbrain, Stackexchange, OKCupid, Wetransfer, Eventbrite, Stackoverflow, Kickass Torrents, Sogou, Popads, and many more., are considered vulnerable to the OpenSSL heartbleed bug.
