“Unspeakable Violence” Endured When New Hampshire Teen Abigail Hernandez Returns Home

The mysterious nine-month disappearance and return of New Hampshire teen Abigail Hernandez has yielded another ambiguous clue for which authorities are seeking the public's help. Her family said that Abigail Hernandez was subjected to "numerous acts of unspeakable violence" while being incarcerated for nine months.

The comments are the first indication of what might have happened to Abigail Hernandez, who disappeared while walking home from her high school in Conway, N.H., on Oct. 9, 2013.

The family, who asked the press to leave Abigail Hernandez alone during her time of healing, said it was a miracle that she survived, but she needs time to heal both physically and emotionally. Abigail, now 15, was 14 when she went missing last year.

"Abby was violently abducted by a stranger. For many months, she suffered numerous acts of unspeakable violence," the family statement said. "Through her faith, fortitude and resilience, she is alive today and home with her family."

The family acknowledged the public no doubt had questions about what happened. And the statement said everyone will, at some time, learn the truth.

"We do not intend to have this case tried in the press," said the statement released by Abigail and her mother. "As the justice system moves forward and the evidence are revealed, questions about this horrifying event will be answered."

The statement was featured on the "Bring Abby Home" website that was created after the 14-year-old disappeared last Oct. 9 on her way home from school.

Also on the same website, it was stated that "During the last nine months we have fully supported and taken direction from Law Enforcement on ways to proceed that were in the best interest of Abby's safety and return to her family," reads the page that previously has carried updates from the Hernandez family.

"Abby being reunited with her family on Sunday is a testament to us that this process has worked and we continue to believe they are acting in Abby's best interests. As we receive more information from them, we will share it as soon as we can. We thank you for your patience."

She came home July 20, but the circumstances of her return are just as murky as the details of her disappearance.

Nathaniel Kibby, 34, has been arrested and charged with one count of felony kidnapping. He is being held on a $1 million bond.

All is hoping for justice for what happened to Abigail Hernandez and that all her unspeakable violence experienced will eventually heal and she can move on with life with great enthusiasm.
