Kira Kazantsev Of New York Reigns Miss America 2015

Miss America 2015 pageant was held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on September 14, 2014. Kira Kazantsev of New York reigned supreme in the competition and was crowned as Miss America 2015.

The Miss America 2015 competition was once again hosted The Bachelor's Chris Harrison and Lara Spencer of Good Morning America. The panel of judges included television writer and executive producer Marc Cherry, Donald Driver, a former Green Bay Packer and Super Bowl Champion, author and entrepreneur Kathy Ireland, US Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson, retired Army Brigadier General Anne Macdonald, who served over 30 years in the Army, actress and former Miss America Lee Meriwethe lastly author and CEO of VaynerMedia Gary Vaynerchuk.

Once again this year, Miss New York Kira Kazantsev stood out among the other contestants and was hailed as Miss America 2015. She was crowned by fellow New Yorker, Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri. Kira Kazantsev's win was the third consecutive triumph of Miss New York that bagged the Miss America crown.

Miss America 2015 Kira Kazantsev is an American beauty pageant titleholder. She won the Miss New York 2014 title and represented the city at the Miss America pageant this year. She also competed as Miss Cosmopolitan and was on the top ten of Miss New York 2013 competition.

Kira Kazantsev was one of the 53 competing contestants in the Miss America 2015 pageant held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. For her talent, Kira sang Pharrell Williams' Happy with cup percussion accompaniment.

Miss America 2015 Kira Kazantsev beat out first runner-up Courtney Garrett, who was crowned Miss Virginia 2014. Kira was crowned by outgoing Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri. Aside from the crown and title, she also won a $50,000 scholarship provided in part by Joseph Ribkoff Incorporated and the Miss America Oraganization. She intended to use the said scholarship to continue her education headed for law school.

This year's Miss America announced the Miss Congeniality Award live, a move new to the competition. Miss America organization also allowed cameras to broadcast live in the hour leading up to the pageant which is the first time in its 60-year television history.  ABC aired the coverage as a special called Countdown to Miss America. The coverage featured the preliminaries of the competition and also a historical look back at the Miss America Organization's nine decades of scholarship and service. The special also introduced over 30 former Miss America winners including actress Lee Meriwether. Lee Meriwether was crowned as the first Miss America on national television in 1955, which was sixty years ago.

Among the pageant's delegates, Kira Kazantsev of New York reigned supreme and was crowned as Miss America 2015. She was born in New York to Russian parents, making her a first-generation American.

Miss America 2015 Kira Kazantsev attended Hosfra University with a triple major in political science, global studies and geography. She also intends to continue her education and enter law school.
