Amal Alamuddin: The World Finally Meets Mrs. Clooney

After the star-studded wedding in Venice, Amal Alamuddin, who is now Mrs. Clooney, is getting back to work. The stunning lawyer is currently in Greece with fellow law firm partners at the invitation of the Greek government in connection with the Parthenon sculptures that are presently on display in the British museum.

Amal Ramzi Alamuddin Clooney is a London-based British-Lebanese lawyer, activist and lawyer. She is the wife of Hollywood's A-list actor, George Clooney. The 36-year-old stunner is also a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers in London. The law firm is known to be specializing in international and criminal law, human rights and extradition.

Before becoming a recognized barrister, Mrs. Clooney studied at St. Hugh's College, Oxford where she received an Exhibition scholarship, a financial award or grant given by UK educational establishments on grounds of merit. In 2000, Mrs. Clooney graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Jurisprudence degree, a degree equivalent to Oxford's Bachelor of Laws. The following year, she entered New York University School of Law to study the Masters of Laws degree, where she was a clerk for the clerkships program at the International Court of Justice.

For three years, the newlywed barrister worked at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York as part of the Criminal Defense and Investigations Group. She also worked in the Office of the Prosecutor at the UN Special Tribunal for Lebanon and at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. In 2010, Mrs. Clooney returned to the UK, where she is a barrister in London at Doughty Street Chambers.

According to The Independent UK, Amal Alamuddin Clooney has represented clients including Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, former Ukranian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and the King of Bahrain. Based on E! News report, Amal Alamuddin Clooney was snapped at Heathrow airport Monday morning where she caught a flight to Greece for her latest legal case. She was then seen in Athens regarding Greece's bid to win back the Elgin Marbles or the Parthenon Sculptures, a collection of sculptures currently held at London's British Museum.

According to a press release by Doughty Street Chambers, Amal Alamuddin Clooney and Geoffrey Robertson QC, founder and joint head of the firm, were first asked to provide legal advice to the Greek government about the Parthenon sculptures in 2011. They will be meeting government officials Prime Minister Antonio Samaras and Minister of Culture Konstantinos Tasoulas.

The Elgin Marbles or Parthenon Sculptures is a collection of sculptures, inscriptions and architectural features that were acquired by Lord Elgin in 1816 while Athens was under the Ottoman Empire's control, that are currently on display at the British Museum in London.
