Cleveland Cavaliers’ Preview Winnable Schedule; Shrugs Spoiled Opener

The Cleveland Cavaliers' schedule got breezier after a satisfying over time (OT) win against division rivals Derrick Rose and the Bulls at the United Center in Chicago on Friday night. The victory was able to give LeBron "The King" James the chance to mask a bitter opener and welcome party for him against Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks on Thursday night at Cleveland.

The week ahead previews a Cleveland Cavalier schedule that is sure to make the home fans happy even though the team flies to consecutive away games.

After a letdown in their opener, James and the Cavs notched a win over the Bulls that has meaning, even in October, Brian Windhorst of ESPN writes.

Leaving all worries behind, Cavs Nation travelled to Illinois to deny another stain on the Cleveland Cavalier schedule facing an improved Bulls roster who hammered the Knicks on opening day. James came to shrug off a poor debut in a game that was expected to challenge the Eastern Conference supremacy especially that Bulls' front man Derrick Rose is laid to lead the Chicago team alongside Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah.

The King scored 36 points to rally a 114-108 OT win against their Eastern Conference contenders and give Coach David Blatt his first win as Cavs head coach after a poor opening day against a determined Knicks team at home, in which James only tallied 33 percent from the field to post 17 points in a rather sulking homecoming celebration.

Now 1-1 and placing first in the Central Division, the Cleveland Cavaliers' schedule heads them to Moda Center (Rose Garden) on Tuesday to face Nic Batum, LaMarcus Aldridge and the Portland Trailblazers to continue a series of road games. The Cavs is set to depend on its new acquisitions like James and Kevin Love, who was traded from Minnesota for Anthony Bennett and Andrew Wiggins, to grab a win against Rip City and strengthen their division standing.

James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will then travel south west to face Derrick Favors and the young Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena on Wednesday and move further south to cap their away games schedule with a date with Kenneth Faried and the Nuggets on Friday, Nov. 7, before returning home to Quicken Loans to welcome a reloaded New Orleans Pelicans featuring Omer Asik and John Salmons.
