Lindsey Vonn & Tiger Woods News: Former Olympic Champion Nearing Return to Alps From ACL Injury

Lindsey Vonn is nearing her return to competitive skiing as reports indicated that the former Olympic skiing champion is doing well in her training after sitting out for the entire year due to a knee injury.

Vonn, who has not raced this year after suffering from a torn ACL in her right knee for the second time, said that she expected to experience setback in her return, but she is currently doing well since she started training several weeks ago.

"I feel really good," Vonn said via ESPN. "I was expecting to have some bumps along the way. But I haven't had any problems, no setbacks. It hasn't gotten swollen. Haven't even felt it, no pain. I'm pretty excited where things are at."

Vonn, who failed to defend her downhill title during the 2014 Sochi Olympics, admitted, though, that she is still struggling to regain her rhythm and confidence, but she believes that she will eventually reached her competitive form in the next several weeks.

"I'd say I'm 85 percent," Vonn said. "I feel like I need a little bit more training, more repetition. Otherwise, the technique and stuff is all there. Just need to get the tactics down, get some more reps. I'll be in good shape after a couple more training sessions."

"I'm a little more tentative still on the more difficult terrain. That just comes with time. With more training and more confidence, I'll be good," she added.

Vonn said that she is not ruling out a possible return later this month - ahead of her target comeback in Lake Louise, Alberta in December - but she also pointed out that she wants to remain cautious to avoid re-injuring her knee like what happened last year.

"I need to also be more reserved than I was last year," Vonn said. "I think Lake Louise is the perfect place for me to start. That's still the plan. But you never know. Things could change if I start skiing incredibly fast. I can't rule it completely out."

Vonn has 59 World Cup race victories and is just three wins away from tying the record of 62, which was set by skiing legend Annemarie Moser-Proell. She has a good chance to add more wins in December in Lake Louise, where she won 14 races before.
