Tiger Woods Article: Tiger Woods Slams Dan Jenkins And Golf Digest For Publishing Fake Interview With Him

Tiger Woods article - Tiger Woods has written an article on The Player's Tribune to rebuff a parody interview with him written by legendary golf writer Dan Jenkins for the Golf Digest.

The Golf Digest Tiger Woods article in question is titled," My (Fake) Interview with Tiger: Or how it plays out in my mind." The said article is expected to feature in the magazine's December edition.

"Did you read Dan Jenkins' interview with me in the latest Golf Digest? I hope not. Because it wasn't me," Tiger Woods wrote in his fiery response on Tuesday.

"It was some jerk he created to pretend he was talking to me. That's right, Jenkins faked an interview, which fails as parody, and is really more like a grudge-fueled piece of character assassination," he added.

The Tiger Woods article also questioned Jenkins' journalistic ethics. "Journalistically and ethically, can you sink any lower?" the Golf legend asked.

Reports indicate that the fake Tiger Woods article is an interview piece, which is intended to be a satire, but the golfer was clearly not amused. Mark Steinberg, Woods agent is reported to have sent the magazine a letter requesting an apology for his client.

"The story completely fabricates an interview between writer Dan Jenkins and Mr. Woods. What we would like to know is how this was approved by editors and whether you, as a publisher, will stand behind this as in any way journalistically responsible," Steinberg wrote in a statement.

Meanwhile, the senior editor of Golf Digest Ashley Mayo has issued also issued a statement to defend the publication of the Tiger Woods article. "The Q&A is clearly labeled as fake,' both our cover and in the headline. The article stands on its own," she wrote.

Steinberg disagrees that the Tiger Woods article was written without malice. "Mr. Jenkins has long held a personal hostility for Me. Woods, a fact that is common knowledge in golf journalism. Knowing that, editors ought to be holding him to a firmer standard of responsible reporting, grounded in fact."

The Tiger Woods article features personal questions including the golfer's relationship with his first wife Elin Nordegren. Jenkins also asks about Tiger Wood's current relationship with his girlfriend Linsey Vonn and other rumors of his affairs with other women including his swing coaches and caddies.
