Ken Weatherwax: Pugsley From Memorable 1960s 'Addams Family' TV Series Dies Of Heart Attack

Ken Weatherwax - An actor who featured in one of most memorable television shows from the sixties era has been found dead in his home in Box Canyon, California.

Ken Weatherwax, 59, was found dead in his home on Sunday, according to his brother Joey D. Vieira, who is also an actor.

On Sunday, his niece Shanyn Vieira announced the death of Ken Weatherwax on Facebook. She said he had died on the same day from a heart attack.

Ken Weatherwax starred as a mischievous child in ABC's adaptation of Charles Addam's grim The Addams Family cartoon series. He played Pugsley, one of the children of Gomez and Morticia Addams.

As Pugsley, Ken Weatherwax played the role of an odd, cruel and absent minded fun-loving child. His execution of the role was so good that Ken Weatherwax was invited to play the same role in subsequent renditions of The Addams Family in the seventies.

Although he starred in several commercials, Ken Weatherwax later revealed that the Pugsley role typecasted him. Despite attending numerous auditions, he failed to land a new gig. Weatherwax also disclosed that he was teased as a child for the name of his character Pusgley. This apparently influenced his decision to join the US military at the age of 17.

Ken Weatherwax later returned to Hollywood. He is reported to have worked with the camera crew of several Hollywood production houses (including Universal Studios) before quitting a few years ago for health reasons.

It is unclear what sort of medical condition Ken Weatherwax was battling with. It is also unclear what caused his sudden heart attack. There has been no official statement about the death of Ken Weatherwax from ABC or Universal.

Meanwhile, fans of Addams Family have taken to social media to react to the passing of Ken Weatherwax.

RIP Ken Weatherwax (Pugsley)
