Instagram 300m - Instagram has announced yet another milestone. The photo-sharing-app has recorded over 300 million actively users monthly; with more than 70 million photos and videos shared every day on the virtual platform.
The Instagram 300m millstone has has been described as 'outstanding.' In March, the image-sharing app, which is popular with young people, announced that it had more than 200 million active users. This was only a year after declaring its first 100 million users.
"We're proud to announce that there are now more than 300 million instagrammers. Over the past four years what began as two friends with a dream has grown into a global community," CEO Kevin Systrom said in a statement.
Instagram's reach has spread internationally; more than 70 percent of its users are based outside the U.S. and share over 30 billion photos.
The company, which Facebook purchased for $1 billion in April 2012, has even outperformed Twitter, which boasts of about 284 million monthly active users.
"We're thrilled to watch this community thrive and witness the amazing connections people make over shared passions and journeys," Systrom added."We're seeing a lot of people coming in the fashion world, a lot of people coming in, in the youthful teens world, and a lot of people internationally as well."
The Instagram 300m milestone comes with new improvements to the site. The company did not only announce its new milestone on Wednesday, but also unveiled updates to make the experience of users simpler and fun-filled.
"We're excited to announce verified badges for celebrities, athletes and brands, making it easier for you to connect with the authentic accounts you're looking for," Systrom said. "These badges will start rolling out over the coming days."
The Instagram 300m milestone has made headlines. The company says it has also set out to deactivate spam. These accounts, which are being removed on a daily basis, will reportedly be deleted permanently.
