Sergeant William Bolt Landlord - Landlord Disallows Visiting Soldier To Stay With Wife And Newborn Past 7 Days

Sergeant William Bolt Landlord - A soldier, who took leave in order to visit his wife and newborn daughter, has been kicked off his wife's apartment because the landlord claims that he has elapsed the time allocated for visitors.

Reports indicate that Sergeant William Bolt, who is stationed in Missouri, had not seen his family for six months. He was granted leave to go and spend the holiday season with his wife Lily and their two-week-old daughter in Central, South Carolina.

However, the happy family reunion didn't last long. The landlord at the Grove apartment complex in Central S. C. informed Bolt that based on a written apartment lease which his wife signed and his name isn't part off, he couldn't stay past seven days. The maximum time visitors are allowed to stay in the apartment is 7 days, according to the Sergeant William Bolt's landlord.

"He stated to me that he didn't care about our situation, he didn't care about me being in the military," Bolt said. He added that the landlord has even threatened to increase his wife's rent and would even sue him if he continued to stay.

"If I don't vacate the premises, he's gonna tow my vehicle and press charges against me for criminal trespassing and then double rent," Sgt Bolt said.

But Sergeant William Bolt's landlord, whose name was only given as Chuck, said he wasn't being malicious and enforced the same rules for every tenant on his property.

He insists that Bolt's name is not on the lease agreement therefore he is a visitor and must follow the rules of the contract his wife signed.

However, legal experts have arrived at the conclusion that the Sergeant William Bolt's landlord is bluffing. According to experts, based on the vaguely written contract, the landlord would have a difficult time pressing charges against Bolt because he is the tenant's husband.

"It's very unclear. I do believe he would likely have a very difficult time enforcing this provision based on the vagueness of it and due to the fact that this officer is her spouse," attorney Amber Foster said.
