David Bowie Coldplay: Chris Martin Says Legendary Singer Turned Down Chance To Collaborate With His Band

David Bowie Coldplay - The Viva la Vida singer has revealed that British music legend David Bowie turned down a chance to collaborate with his band after he sent him a recording of a song they were working on some time ago.

Speaking during a section dedicated to the Ziggy Stardust singer at the inaugural BBC Music Awards last week, Chris Martin explains what happened with the botched David Bowie Coldplay collaboration.

"One time I sent him a song to ask him to sing on it," Martin said. "He called me and said, 'it's not one of your best.' He's got very high standards and I appreciate that. It inspires the rest of us to keep our standards high."

Martin also commented on his admiration for Bowie's catalogue of 'amazing songs.' Despite the praises he received on the night, David Bowie did not receive the British Artist of the Year award that he was nominated for. That honor went to none other than Ed Sheeran. The Sing singer's critically acclaimed latest album X has performed remarkably well on the charts.

Meanwhile, David Bowie's latest release Nothing Has Changed - a collection of some of his most remarkable songs - includes just one new track. While the album has been big with old fans of Bowie, it hasn't connected so well with the new generation of listeners.

Bowie has since released two new songs after Nothing Has Changed¸ which have pretty much attracted the same comments from critics. Perhaps, that David Bowie Coldplay collaboration is just what the 67-year-old needs to make a chart-topping come-back.

Since Martin spoke about the David Bowie Coldplay song, many fans have talked about what it would sound like when two of Britain's best musical acts come together on one track. We know that Martin rates Bowie very high and Bowie could really do with some of Coldplay's influence with the young generation.
