Stephen Belafonte - Mel B and husband Stephen Belafonte are having marital problems. Reports indicate that the 39-year-old former Spice Girl may have left her husband after being hospitalized following a big argument between them.
The couple have been married for seven years and rumors of their split went viral after Mel B, who is a UK X Factor judge, missed the show's finale on Saturday. She was reportedly acting under doctor's advice due to the ill state of her health.
However, Mel B made a surprise appearance on the show's grand finale on Sunday night. Reports described the singer as looking frail and ill. Others said she looked like there were marks on her body and she wasn't wearing her wedding ring.
"I really missed being here but thanks to all the doctors and nurses who took care of me and got me here," Mel B said while on stage.
Although she did not disclose what illness had caused her to be hospitalized, rumors ran amok that Stephen Belafonte may have physically abused her. An accusation the movie producer was quick to deny. In a series of statements posted on social media, Stephen Belafonte denied have anything to do with why his wife was hospitalized.
"I don't usually respond to Twitter msgs but I will respond to comments of hitting my wife which I think are quite disgusting and untrue! Stephen Belafonte tweeted on Monday.
"Mel was very ill a bunch of doctors helped her get better if fans can't just relax B4 being negative they are not real fans of @OfficalMelB."
Despite his tweets, it's obvious that the couple are having problems. According to the Telegraph, "Mel hasn't' spoken to Stephen once since her admission to hospital last week and as it stands she doesn't want to see him."
"He didn't come to the hospital at all. It's a very sad state of affairs given she could have died," the source added.
The singer's aunty Diane Cook confirmed the impending split between Mel B and Stephen Belafonte. "I really hope she does split up with Stephen. I hope she gets away from him," The Mirror quotes her saying.
"We all believe Stephen has got her under his control," she said. "We are worried about Mel but there is nothing we can do."
The estranged couple's net worth is reportedly estimated at $38 million. Mel B is report to have cut off from her extended family following her marriage to Belafonte in June 2007.
