Cavaliers Thompson: Tristan Thompson Rejects $52 Million 4-Year Cleveland Cavaliers Contract Extension

Cavaliers Thompson - As Cleveland Cavaliers try to build a solid winning team, one of its main players Tristan Thompson has turned down a mega deal extension.

According to reports, 23-year-old Tristan Thompson, who is regarded as one of the pillars of the Cavaliers team, has refused a whooping $52 million deal contract extension from the club.

"Within the NBA, officials expected maybe $10 million a year, perhaps $12 million," Yahoo Sports Adroan Wonjnarowski said of the contract which the Cavaliers offered.

The team clearly values the player and awarded him a super deal. However, to everyone

Surprise, "Thompson turned down a $13 million-a-year-extension offer-four-years, $52 million," Wojnarowski added.

The Thompson-Cavaliers deal has shocked many NBA enthusiasts especially because the forward, who is not yet an All-Star player, is not thought to deserve such a deal.

However, according to insiders, the deal doesn't come as a shock since Thompson's agent Rich Paul of Kluch Sports. Klutch is the same company that represents Lebron James.

"James is the biggest reason Klutch Sports exists, and he's an active recruiter of high school, college and current NBA players to join the agency. Of course, plenty of players help their agents recruits. So James committed as a free agent in July, everyone understood there was a tax-spoken or unspoken-that would come with James' return, that would manifest itself in an above-market deal for Thompson," Wojnarowski explained.

This might just be a very big mistake or a genius plan Klutch Sports have devised to get the Cavaliers to offer more. For a player of Thompson's calibre, it would be extremely difficult to get a multi-million dollar deal like this summer on the restricted free-agent market.

The news of the Cavaliers Thompson deal has since gone viral. Many fans have questioned the wisdom of Tristan's decision.

On Tuesday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers lost their sixth game in a row when they faced the Phoenix Suns.
