Dania Suarez, one of the alleged Colombian prostitutes involved in the recent U.S. Secret Service scandal, has gone into hiding after photographs of her were posted on the Internet, the New York Daily News reported on Friday.
Dania Suarez has fled Cartanega, Colombia, according to the Daily News. The newspaper published exclusive photos of Suarez on Thursday, and wrote the next day that the purported prostitute believes she has received too much exposure for her own safety.
Twelve Secret Service members and at least 11 military personnel are now under investigation after being accused of hiring prostitutes while in Colombia preparing for President Barack Obama's visit there last weekend. An argument between Dania Suarez and one of the agents triggered the controversy. The two argued over the amount owed -- $30, he said, $800, she said. Eventually, the Colombian police were called when the argument escalated.
Prostitution is legal in Colombia, so Dania Suarez is not guilty of breaking any law. However, U.S. Secret Service and military personnel are subject to different rules and regulations. Six Secret Service agents have lost their jobs as a result, including David Randall Chaney and Greg Stokes.
Rumors of prostitute-staffed sex parties held for former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi were confirmed after images taken at one of the "Bunga Bunga" parties were found on several laptops and seized by prosecutors.
The 74-year-old Italian politician allegedly paid for sex with a 17-year-old belly dancer named Karima El Mahroug (pictured), as well as more than 30 other women, sometimes paying with jewelry. El Mahroug was allegedly under the legal age for prostitution in Italy.
Berlusconi was also accused of using his political power to secure the release of El Mahroug after she was arrested on charges of theft last May. He reportedly lied to the police, telling them that she was related to former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
French politician and ex-head of the International Monetary Fund Dominique Strauss-Kahn first found himself in hot water after he was detained in New York after being accused of sexually assaulting a maid at his Manhattan hotel. He was eventually allowed to return home to France, but his troubles didn't end there.
In France, he faced allegations of raping a young French writer, and he has more recently been linked to an alleged prostitution ring that operates out of two French hotels. DSK has denied claims that he is linked to sex parties featuring prostitutes in both the United States and in Europe, calling these allegations nothing more than a "media lynching." However, the ensuing sex scandal revolving around the one-time presidential hopeful has essentially knocked him out of the political arena.

Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer was forced to resign after it was revealed that he was a patron of Emperors Club VIP, a New York prostitution service. The New York Times broke the story, eventually causing Spitzer to resign on March 12, 2008.
"I am deeply sorry that I did not live up to what was expected of me," he told the press. "I will try once again outside of politics to serve the common good."
Sources said Spitzer spent more than $15,000 during several meetings with prostitutes. The same sources revealed that Spitzer had been visiting the Emperors Club for eight months and visited on at least eight separate occasions.
