The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 11 Recap: Is Alexandria Safe?

The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 11 - What do you do when you are forced to anticipate for the unknown? This is exactly what is happening to Rick Grimes and his pack as they join newcomer Aaron to his allegedly safe hideout called 'Alexandria.'

Maggie and Sasha bring Aaron to meet Rick and the rest of the pack in the barn. After a tense interrogation, that sees Rick knockout Aaron, he confesses that he and his group have been monitoring Rick and the pack for some time. He confesses that they left the bottles of water seen in the last episode.

But he convinces them that he means well and directs them to two parked cars that can get them to a safe place quickly. Maggie, Rosite, Abraham, Michonne and Glenn march down the street and get two vehicles along with some supplies. After some deliberation, the group decides to go with Aaron to his safe area.

As they set out at midnight, Glenn drives into a pack of walkers and the car's engine breaks down. When a flare goes off in the distance, Aaron escapes into the woods but is saved from a zombie by Glenn. They two then reunite with Rick and Michonne, who were fighting a group of walkers. The pack then traces the origin of the flare to find the rest of the others and surprisingly Aaron's partner Eric.

Considering that this is The Walking Dead, it is almost certain that there's a twist in the plot waiting to spring up on us. While the sound of children playing inside the sanctuary called Alexandria means that Grimes may get some respite from caring for his baby Judith, it is clear that he will have to continue to keep an eye on Aaron and his partner Eric.

While Aaron allowed himself to be shackled by the group and submitted to their power, something just doesn't sit right with him. Like how he evasively answers questions about how many people are in his group, how many people he had killed and why he tracked Grimes and his pack for so long.

The promise of protection, food and water in Alexandria is real - judging from the supplies Aaron brought with him - but at what cost? Also, did you also realize that there were no people in Aaron's photos of Alexandria.
