Giuliana Rancic’s Twitter Apology Insincere? Twitterverse Berates ‘Fashion Police’ Host Over Racist Comments About Zendaya’s Dreadlocks

Giuliana Rancic Twitter - The 40-year-old E! News and "Fashion Police' host, Giuliana Rancic, is currently under fire after her alleged racist comments to 18-year-old actress-singer Zendaya. Rancic's remarks were made during the "Fashion Police" Oscars special aired Monday night, Complex reported.

Although Giuliana Rancic has apologized to Zendaya on Twitter, fans commented that the host's apology seemed insincere since no matter what she meant, her comments had already quite a negative context behind it.

"I feel like she smells smells like patchouli oil... or maybe weed," Rancic commented about Zendaya's dreadlocks on "Fashion Police" Monday episode, The Daily Mail quoted.

The commentaries that Giuliana Rancic made promptly sparked a social media outrage, particularly on Twitter. Zendaya, on the other hand, also wrote a lengthy social media message addressing the blatant racism comments of the host and defended her hair, according to The Independent.

"There is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful. Someone said something about my hair at the Oscars that left me in awe," Zendaya wrote on Twitter and Instagram as a response to Giuliana Rancic's harsh comments. "I was hit with ignorant slurs and pure disrespect. To say that an 18 year old young woman with locs [dreadlocks] must smell of patchouli oil or 'weed' is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive."

Zendaya also mentioned respected African American personalities who wear dreadlocks, ET Online cited. She then added that "none of which smell like marijuana."

"There is already a harsh criticism of African American hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of their hair," she continued. "My wearing my hair in locs on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind people of color that our hair is good enough."

Zendaya concluded her lengthy Twitter message by telling Giuliana Rancic to "contemplate a little before opening her mouth so quickly to judge."

Meanwhile, Giuliana Rancic immediately wrote an apology to Twitter about her "Fashion Police" comments.

"Dear @Zendaya, I'm sorry I offended you and others. I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!" Rancic tweeted.

However, it seemed that it wasn't only Giuliana Rancic who has been berated on social media over her commentaries on Zendaya. According to Fashion & Style, Rancic's cohost Kelly Osbourne was also criticized on Twitter.

Though both parties have aired their thoughts about the incident, many fans are still unhappy about Giuliana Rancic's Twitter apology. Do you think Rancic's blow was below the belt?
