McDonald's Beating - One of six assailants who unloaded punches and kicks on a 15-year-old girl in a Brooklyn McDonald's outlet earlier in the week has been arrested by the police.
Aniah Ferguson, 16, was taken into custody on Thursday after police reportedly identified her from a viral cell phone video footage of the incident. Police say the teenager, who has a history of violence and an arrest record, also stole the purse and cell phone of the victim after beating her to the ground while onlookers cheered. She has been charged as an adult with gang assault and robbery.
Reports indicate that the other attackers in the video have also been identified. But they are yet to be arrested. Police say it is only a matter of time before they are taken into custody.
Ferguson and her friends are said to belong to a violent street gang known as the Young Savages. The president of Brooklyn Borough Eric Adams has announced a reward of $1,000 for any information leading to the arrest of the attackers.
The victim of the beatdown Ariana Taylor is alleged to have sustained several injuries, including black eyes and a broken nose. Relatives said she was rushed to the hospital temporarily on Wednesday after he collapsed at home.
But on Thursday, the ninth grade student of Erasmus High School denied that she had sustained those injuries on her Facebook page. She also hinted at being famous and posted pictures of herself - which interestingly showed no signs of injuries.
Until now, Taylor and her family have not filed a complaint concerning the incident. Police say she was initially unwilling to work with them on the case, but has since become "more cooperative."
Police are reportedly investigating the incident. A student of Erasmus High School told the New York Daily that there was bad blood between Ariana and Ferguson.
Reports indicate that the McDonald's outlet at Flatbush Ave. where the incident took place has long been renowned with violence. Since the incident, many pundits have condemned the fact that many onlookers at the McDonald's outlet failed to separate the brute fight.
