Did Rebel Wilson lie about her age? After becoming so controversial this week, an Australian tabloid reportedly confirmed that the "Pitch Perfect" star is actually a 36-year-old instead of what the actress formerly claimed that she's 29.
Based on the business records filed with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission, Rebel Wilson was in fact born on March 2, 1980, thus confirming her age to be 36, Sydney Morning Herald reported. The published report also included her real name and where she actually grew up.
In line with Rebel Wilson's age controversy, Time noted that the report also revealed the truth about the Aussie actress' name. As per the Australian Electoral Roll, Rebel's real name is Melanie Elizabeth Bownds. However, she changed her last name to Wilson.
In 2014, the "Bachelorette" actress told The Australian Women's Weekly that her real name was Rebel while the names Melanie and Elizabeth were just her middle names. Her family's backstory and upbringing were also revealed in the report.
Since Rebel Wilson's age became the center of a media firestorm earlier this week, the "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" star took to Twitter to fire back at the Australian magazine that revealed her age and upbringing. As said by People, she tweeted that she's a 100-year-old mermaid.
"OMG I'm actually a 100 year old mermaid formerly known as "CC Chalice"....thanks shady Australian press for your tall poppy syndrome x," she wrote. She then added, "Okay but all jokes aside now...my real name is Fat Patricia x."
Meanwhile, Rebel Wilson is filming her new comedy film, "How To Be Single," in New York City. Daily Mail reported Wilson will also be joined by Dakota Johnson, Alison Brie, Leslie Mann and Damon Wayans.
After the report sparked intense controversy, Rebel Wilson and her representatives did not immediately respond when contacted for comment. However, Wilson is not the only actress to play coy about her age. E! News noted that famous celebrities including Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Chastain and Sandra Bullock have never admit their real age.
"After a while, you have no idea how old you are because you've lied so many times..." Bullock once said. "I always said I would never lie, but one time, when I didn't it worked against me. So I figure you just keep them guessing."
