Celebrities Make Short Career Change on "Stars Earn Stripes"

Some celebrities are making a short career change from entertainer to army troop on NBC's new show Stars Earn Stripes.

The military-themed show will feature a competition between celebrities who will compete in missions similar to that of real military exercises. Each celebrity will have a person from the U.S. military or law enforcement by their side, as partners in the competition. Each week, the weakest team will be sent home. The winning team will donate the monetary prize to veterans and first-responder charities.

Those celebrities taking part in the competition include boxing champion Laila Ali, actor Dean Cain, singer Nick Lachey, Sarah Palin's spouse, Todd Palin, NFL player Terry Crews, The Biggest Loser trainer Dolvett Quince, WWE star Eve Torres, and Olympic gold medalist Picabo Street.

Former Supreme Allied Commander Europe for NATO, General Wesley Clark, and TV personality Samantha Harris will host the show.

"I am thrilled to join Stars Earn Stripes as host and look forward to watching the celebrity cast members test themselves as they step up to take on these tough challenges," said Clark in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. "This new series pays tribute to members of our dedicated armed forces and civil law enforcement and I know that the winnings, which will be donated to first- responder charity and veterans groups, will make a difference and send an important message."

The show will premiere on Monday, August 13, at 8pm.
