Canadian Pop/R&B singer Justin Bieber has grown in success, and at just 18 years old he is listed as Forbes' 3rd most powerful celebrity in the world, with earnings of an estimated $55 million. However, despite all his accomplishments and fame, it may be hard to believe that Justin was very close to giving it all up for good.
Justin Bieber was discovered on Youtube by Scooter Braun, a former marketing executive of So So Def. He clicked on one of Bieber's 2007 videos by accident and was impressed. In October 2008, he was signed to Island Records and thus his new life began at the age of 14. Bieber's first full-length studio album was released in March 2010 entitled My World 2.0. It debuted at number one or within the top ten in several countries and was certified platinum in the United States.
On MTV News, Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, said that the pop sensation was at a point where he broke down and said "I can't do it anymore."
"...he just broke down, and he said, 'I can't do it anymore. I can't go outside. I can't go anywhere ... I feel like a spectacle all the time.' And he was really struggling with it. You got to remember he didn't want to be a star: I found him, and it happened," Braun said.
The two had a heart-to-heart as Bieber struggled with his superstardom. Bieber did, however, offer one suggestion on how he might be able come to terms with how he was feeling and said, "I want to meet Kobe Bryant." He was being quite serious and this ultimately led to an encounter with the Los Angeles Lakers MVP.
Braun recalled, "They had a pretty intense conversation and something that I think Justin will never forget."
Bieber has over 20 million followers on Twitter and is the second most popular celebrity account behind that of Lady Gaga. His most recent album, Believe was released on June 19, 2012.
