'Deadpool' Cast Update [SPOILER]: Will Ajax And Deadpool Engage In An 'X-Men' Crossover?

"Deadpool" is just months away from hitting theaters, and comic book-turned-movie enthusiasts are already turning up the hype and anticipation over this upcoming Marvel offering.

Last year, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, together with Tim Miller, who is a director in visual effects, made the script for the film. Ryan Reynolds suited up as Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool, and is backed by other Marvel Comics personalities such as Weasel (T.J. Miller), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) and Vanessa Carlysle aka Copycat (Morena Baccarin).

Despite wrapping up the principal photography last May, another character was revealed to be making an appearance in "Deadpool." Blind Al, otherwise known as Althea, an older woman who developed a bizarre relationship with Deadpool, is also making also appearing in the movie.

Set to portray the character is actress Leslie Uggams, who gave the information on her website that she will be part of "Deadpool." Blind Al will develop a bizarre relationship with Deadpool and such involvement with the lead character will give more depth to the humor of the film. The character as described by a casting call revealed earlier this year is "worldly, sarcastic, great sense of comedic timing, dry and funny," according to Screen Rant.

If there's a good character addition, it isn't surprising that there will also be a villain to rain on the parade. Enter Ajax, portrayed by British actor Ed Skrein.

In light of his involvement in the movie, Skrien opened up about his villainous character.

"The film runs in kind of two halves, like a soccer game," Skrein told IGN. "The first-half is me attacking; the second-half is more him attacking in some ways. But it's not that simple."

"It's a great relationship Ajax and Deadpool have — it's a wonderful dynamic. A lot of the time we talked in terms of the great boxers: Muhammad Ali and George Foreman or Muhammad Ali versus Joe Frazier. Muhammad Ali is dancing around, whispering in his ear, trying to get to him, get under his skin, which is what Wade Wilson (Deadpool) and Ryan do so brilliantly. Ajax is that juggernaut, just like Joe Frazier, just focused on this job and hunting him down and pounding away, like a bulldozer," the actor added.

Asked if Ajax will possibly join the "X-Men" universe, he answered, "The possibilities are endless in the wonderful world of Marvel. That's what so exciting. It's just an honour to have got to played him for the first and I'm so happy with what we've achieved so far."

The door is open for a lot of possibilities for Ajax and Deadpool to appear in "X-Men" since they went through the same program with Wolverine. Weapon X was responsible for fusing the adamantium to Wolverine's skin, according to Cinema Blend.

Skrein also acknowledged that the film is in sync with the comic books. "I think the rest of the world sees him as a bad guy. Me, I think he's just misunderstood. His name is Ajax; or Francis. He went through the same Weapon X, program as Wolverine and Deadpool," Skrein said.
