London 2012 Olympics: NBA Players Opt Out of Playing For Team USA

Several NBA players are choosing to opt out of playing for Team USA in the 2012 London Olympics.

Recently traded NBA star Lamar Odom is one of the players who have decided not to play in this year's Games.

"Lamar Odom tells ESPNLA he will skip Team USA this summer and work with trainers in L.A. and focus on the season," tweeted ESPNLA.com's Arash Markazi.

Earlier in the year, Odom's wife, Khloe Kardashian Odom, indirectly suggested the idea of her husband playing in the Olympics saying to People, "This summer we're hoping to go to London and spend time with his kids," referring to Lamar's two children, daughter Destiny and son Lamar Jr.

Similarly, New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin and Boston Celtics center Greg Stiemsma will also not be playing for the USA Men's Select Team and have decided to train in Las Vegas, against the 2012 USA Basketball Men's National Team.

"Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to participate in the 2012 USA Men's Select Team this summer," Lin said in a statement.  "It was such an incredible honor to be selected, but I have withdrawn my name from the team because of my status as a free agent.  I hope to have the opportunity to participate with USA Basketball at some point in the future."

Stiemsma did not have a choice, as he was forced to withdraw from the Games following a nonsurgical process for plantar fasciitis.
