Ciara’s Lover Russell Wilson Is NFL's Highest Paid Player? Couple Still Struggling To Maintain Celibacy?

Seattle Seahawks now owes Russell Wilson a whopping $87.6 million ever since both parties have agreed to a contract extension that would last through the 2019 season. Looks like Wilson and girlfriend Ciara have another reason to celebrate.

Sources revealed to ESPN Friday that Seattle Seahawks and quarterback Russell Wilson have entered a four-year contract extension that is bound to make the 26-year-old NFL player $21.9 million richer annually.

The contract extension is perceived as a huge blessing for Wilson, who is now close to becoming NFL's highest-paid player. The title is of course still in the hands of Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, who is earning $22 million yearly.

Sports Illustrated writer Peter King was quick to share details about Wilson's contract on Twitter.

He first tweeted, "Russell Wilson and the Seahawks have agreed to a 4-year, $87.6-million extension, per source."

He followed it up with: "The new Wilson deal includes a $31-million signing bonus, with approximately $60-million guaranteed."

And making a comparison of the annual income of the highest-paid NFL players, King tweeted a list of the salary standings of Rodgers, Wilson, Ben Roethlisberger and Cam Newton.

Wilson's contract extension couldn't have been more timely since his rookie contract was scheduled to end this season. If it had expired without the extension, Wilson would have gone home with $1.54 million for this season. Because of this, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback couldn't have been happier when he announced the good news on Twitter.

Another person that is surely pretty happy about the contract extension is Wilson's ladylove, Ciara. The 29-year-old singer-songwriter must be so happy for her lover.

However, it appears that amid their flourishing relationship, the "Like a Boy" singer and her quarterback beau are struggling to keep their vow to refrain from making love.

Us Weekly has learned that Ciara has admitted that it's not easy to stay true to their vow. "You go one day at a time, and keep [the romance] going with each other," Ciara was quoted as saying by the entertainment news site. "It's alright."

Wilson and Ciara started dating last spring after a mutual friend introduced them to each other. In July, Wilson made an announcement about his vow to remain celibate with his girlfriend.

"For me, I knew that God had brought me in her life to bless her and for her to bless me," Wilson said at the time. "We're not going to be perfect, by any means. But He's anointed both of us and He's calling for us to do something special."
