Anthony Sedlak Dies at 29: Culinary Career Began at Young Age [VIDEO]

Celebrity Chef and TV Host Anthony Sedlak was a Canadian chef, well-known for being the host of "The Main" on Canada's Food Network channel. According to various sources, Sedlak was found dead in his apartment.

According to Huffington Post, Sedlak's family released a statement on Monday saying that he collapsed this past Friday from an undiagnosed medical condition. His body was found in his North Vancouver apartment. He was not only seen on TV as the host of Food Network Canada show The Main, but also as a judge on "Family Cook Off." Sedlak had a passion for culinary arts and dove into the field at a young age.

Sedlak discovered his love of food at the young age of 13 and from that point nurtured his passion for cuisine. He began bussing at Grouse Mountain cafeteria at 13 years old and at 14, was promoted to the resort's main kitchen. He completed the Culinary Art Program at Carson Graham Secondary School in North Vancouver, followed by a four-year apprenticeship program at Vancouver Community College.

At age 20, he followed the advice of Sylvain Cuerrier, the executive chef for Grouse Mountain, and joined the team at La Trompette restaurant in west London, where he worked under Chef Oliver Couillaud. He later returned to Grouse Mountain Resorts and thanks to his newfound experience and knowledge gained, he was offered the position of sous-chef at The Observatory.

When he was 22, with the help of Chef Harold Bonkowski (Head of the culinary arts department at VCC), Sedlak was selected as Canada's representative for the 2006 Hans Bueschken World Junior Chef Challenge in Auckland, New Zealand-winning a silver medal.

He also won Food Network's Superstar Chef Challenge III and after the win, he left The Observatory and landed his career on The Main, which premiered on October 1, 2007.

He hosted four seasons of "The Main", with his cookbook being based on the program. It eventually became a national bestseller.

The chef was 29 years old.
