'Prison Break' Reboot Promises 'Logical' & 'Believable' Explanation On How Wentworth Miller's Character Michael Scofield Is Still Alive

Are "Prison Break" stars Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller teaming up for Fox's reboot of their hit series? It appears that this is very likely as Fox chairman Gary Newman already confirmed that the brothers will be back for more action in the reboot.

On Wednesday, Newman and co-chairman Dana Walden announced that the reboot of "Prison Break" is going to happen, confirming rumors and speculations early this summer that the network was already preparing for the return of the show, IGN has learned.

"Once we have those written materials, we feel confident we're going to be going straight to series with that one," Newman said.

However, instead of following the same format used by the original show, "Prison Break" reboot is going to be an event series, similar to another Fox hit action series, "24: Live Another Day."

With the announcement of the series reboot comes the question of whether or not the lead siblings are returning to reprise their roles. Good thing fans are not going to speculate anymore since Newman already gave the answer saying, "It's going to bring back both brothers - Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell."

Does this mean Miller's character, Michael Scofield, is not dead? In the finale of the show,  Michael appeared to have died, so it will be very interesting to see what really happened back then.

"What [Paul] pitched to us was a very logical and believable - in the world of 'Prison Break' - explanation for why our characters are alive and still moving around the world," Walden told TV Line.

Newman also revealed that "Prison Break" creator Paul Scheuring is also on board the reboot and that the latter has already pitched a great story for the new series.

"Paul Scheuring came in and pitched a great story to bring the show back... Paul's busy writing the first episode and a [series] bible," he said.

Another interesting thing about "Prison Break" reboot is the fact that it's not a total reboot but "a bit of a sequel," as per the BBC.

"I would describe it as a bit of a sequel. It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show. The bothers will be back," Walden said.

Fans who enjoyed the original series and loved the many iconic characters, Walden assured that some of them are returning to the small screen, but he didn't really reveal the actors and characters who will be joining Purcell and Miller.

Walden said, "Some of the iconic characters from the show will be back. I don't think Paul knows exactly where he's going over the 10-episode arc yet, but it will definitely address some questions that were set up at the end of the series for a new audience."
