‘Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’ Updates, Gameplay & Release Date: Dev Says Characters’ Facial Expressions Are ‘Nearly Endless’; Live-Action Film Adaptation Arriving In 2017

Naughty Dog boasted that its upcoming game, "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" will feature stunning graphics especially in terms of its characters' facial expressions.

According to Eric Monacelli and Arne Meyer, the development studio's community managers, the developers of the game were able to push its visual quality through the technical capabilities of Sony's PlayStation 4 console.

"The coolest thing about the PlayStation 4 is that we were able to do a lot with the rendering tech to increase the fidelity of these characters so they look more life-like and realistic," the two told Rocket Beans TV according to Gaming Bolt.

Meyer and Monacelli also noted that through the PlayStation 4, Naughty Dog was able to give characters of "Uncharted 4" a wide range of actions, expressions and mannerisms.

"One of my favorite things [about this] is how these characters emote so all the facial expressions and the little things [that] humans do all the time like how your eyes move or even your lips stick together when you smile," they continued. "I don't want to say endless but nearly endless what kind of facial expressions we can get on our characters."

Currently, the development of the game is still in its early stages, Game Reactor reported. A representative from the studio said that the game is not yet complete and developers are still in the process of adding certain elements to the game such as collectibles.

As for its gameplay, the company's community managers teased that the single player mode of "Uncharted 4" will relatively be the same length as the other titles from the series.

But, unlike the previous installments, Meyer and Monacelli said that the action sequences in the upcoming game will be paced accordingly to allow players to rest in between intense scenes.

"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" does not have an official release date yet but the game is scheduled to come out sometime next year. It will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 4.

But aside from the upcoming game, fans of the series can also look forward to the premiere of the live-action film based on the series.

According to a movie lineup released by Sony, the "Uncharted" movie will come out on June 30, 2017. As for its cast, Game Spot learned that Sony is considering to include Mark Wahlberg, Robert DeNiro, Scarlett Johansson, Amy Adams and Joe Pesci in the upcoming film.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Jurassic World" star Chris Pratt was asked to play lead character Nathan Drake in the movie but he declined the part.
