‘Deadpool 2’ RUMORS: ‘Fantastic Four 2’ Dropped For Ryan Reynolds Sequel? Cable To Be Used As Primary Villain?

"Deadpool 2" — A new rumor has been circulating that 20th Century Fox is planning to pull out "Fantastic Four 2" from its scheduled release date slot to give way to the sequel of Ryan Reynolds' antihero flick.

The said move by the film studio was apparently brought by the fact that "Fantastic Four," which has been getting quite a lot of bad press lately, isn't doing well as expected in the box office.

Fox, like any other big-budget properties, already had its major release dates laid out for the next couple of years. However, it is looking into making changes and closed door conversations are already underway, ComicBookMovie.com has learned.

"Fantastic Four 2" has been set for a June 9, 2017 opening date, but since its prequel came out quite pretty disappointing, "Deadpool 2," will replace it in the roster in the hope of a better box office result, the rumors claimed.

Several media sources noted though, that the claims are not yet confirmed. But if true, it could mean that filming of the follow up should begin no later than June next year, which is just four months after the prequel's February 12, 2016 opening date, according to Cinema Blend.

If again true, there is also a possibility that we would be seeing Cable as the primary villain in the film, as director Tim Miller told Empire, "There aren't really many definitive Deadpool villains, apart from Cable. If we don't put Cable in Deadpool 2 I think we'll be run out of town on a rail," IGN reported.

Basically, Fox should already commit to "Deadpool 2" now (if the rumor is true) in order to make it to the targeted release date. The problem here though, is that if "Deadpool" doesn't make it big as expected, then what difference does it make if they had just gone ahead with "Fantastic Four 2?"
