Samsung Galaxy S3 Release Date: The Wait Ends for Verizon Customers

After pushing the release date back for July 11, Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S3 is finally available in Verizon stores. With such a high demand for the phone, store managers are cautioning that the phone may come and go quickly.

The initial release date for the phone was scheduled for Wednesday, but the overwhelming demand for it made the company decide to tweak the release date.

The 16 GB model of the phone will have a price tag of $199 with the offer of a two-year contract, while the 32 GB version will cost a little more at $249. There is a 4G LTE model of the phone, however it not only has less storage space, but it also has much less coverage.

Verizon released the Galaxy 3S online Wednesday for customers who just could not wait. Customers who ordered online are predicted to receive their phones in store next week.

AT&T's launch occurred a few days earlier than Verizon's, as the phone was available to AT&T customers on July 6.  AT&T will be releasing an "exclusive" red version of the phone in the coming weeks.

"The addition of the Samsung Galaxy S3 to our portfolio of 4G-LTE devices gives our customers another truly cutting-edge smartphone to choose from," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president at AT&T Mobility, to IBTimes.

The Galaxy S3 features a 4.8-inch screen, voice control and face recognition, as well as a Qualcomm S4 processor. The phone also comes with a "Pop up Play" component that allows customers to open various windows and apps on one screen.
