'Underworld' 2016 UPDATE: Casts, Theo James' Role, Release Date And PLOT Details Revealed

"Underworld" 2016 Updates - Fans of the long running modern movie franchise will be happy to know that that the film has already been given a release date.

"Underworld 5," the latest installment to the vampire-lycans franchise, will be out in theaters October 21, 2016, Den of Geek reported.

Actors Theo James ("Divergent") and Kate Beckinsale will reprise their roles in the forthcoming flick, which is said to highlight James' character in the ongoing war between lycans and vampires, according to KpopStarz. James will return as the lycan David, while Beckinsale as Selene, the vampire warrior leading the battle.

The movie will reportedly also focus on the seemingly never-ending conflict between the two mystical creatures, and is said to be continued by the next generation of the two races.

Shooting of "Underworld 5" is scheduled to start October this year in Czech Republic, Prague, Venture Capital Post has learned. It was previously reported that the work needed for post-production and special effects would take time and a 2017 release would be more appropriate, but now we know that the opening has already been scheduled next year.

The sequel will reportedly be the directorial debut of Anna J. Foerster, who has previously worked in "Criminal Minds" and has acted as director of photography in the film "White House Down." Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg will be producing the movie, while Cory Goodman will be working on the film's script.

"Underworld" 2016 is the fifth and latest addition to the franchise that started with "Underworld" in 2003, followed by "Underworld: Evolution" in 2006, "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" in 2009 and "Underworld: Awakening" in 2012, as per IMDB.

Meanwhile, along with release date confirmation for "Underworld 5" also came the announcement of the opening date for the "Resident Evil" follow up.

"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter," which is the sixth and apparently the last "Resident Evil" film will not be out until January 27, 2017.
