Despite Nick Kyrgios' monster win against Stan Wawrinka during the 2015 Rogers Cup competition in Canada, the 20-year-old Aussie tennis superstar is currently attracting attention for all the wrong reasons. During the match, he delivered on-court sex sledges against his opponent's girlfriend.
Nick Kyrgios is currently under fire after he made a derogatory remark against Stan Wawrinka's girlfriend Donna Vekic, who he claimed was sleeping with another player. According to NBC News, Kyrgios' crude remark was caught by on-court microphones during the second-round match of the Rogers Cup in Montreal on Thursday.
"[Thanasi] Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend. Sorry to tell you that mate," Kyrgios muttered on-court midway through his match against Stan Wawrinka.
Due to Kyrgios' lewd comment, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) fined him with $10,000 and an additional $2,500 for "unsportmanlike conduct."
After the fine, the Aussie player apologized on Facebook. Unfortunately, karma was fast to slap Kyrgios as he went out the next day and suffered a great loss in straight sets to John Isner, Bleacher Report noted.
"I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the comments I made during the match last night vs Stan Wawrinka," Kyrgios wrote on Facebook.
"My comments were made in the heat of the moment and were unacceptable on many levels. In addition to the private apology I've made, I would like to make a public apology as well. I take full responsibility for my actions and regret what happened."
Meanwhile, Spanish tennis champ Rafael Nadal has hit out at Nick Kyrgios after making sex sledges against Stan Wawrinka's girlfriend and said that his age is no excuse for Kyrgios' vulgar comment.
"Everybody can make mistakes. Age is not an excuse," Nadal said as Eurosport quoted. "I don't understand why he said that. It's completely unnecessary. The world of tennis, we should be an example for a new generation of kids."
It looks like Nick Kyrgios' controversial comment is a sign of desperation as he taunts his worst opponent. And as the controversy gets more intense, Kyrgios' brother Christos ignited it more with the derogatory remark. As per The Guardian, Christos echoed his mother Norlaila's comments when she defended her son's lewd remark against Wawrinka.
"It's not a nice thing to say, it's not, but you can't always cop it on the chin from other people without retaliating," Kyrgois' mom told Fairfax Media. While Christos said, "Stan openly said after their match at Queen's that Nick was faking injury and that he wasn't even sick. If you're going to come and openly, it's not even sledging, that's openly slandering someone after a match, then you can expect a bit of sledging back."
Interestingly, Christos' interview was cutoff midway before a further lewd comment about Vevic went on air. And on his Facebook page, he posted the comment he made during his interview.
"So just did a media interview for Nick [Kyrgios]. Said Donna [Vekic] obviously loved the 'kokk' [sic]. They cut my interview and said its the worst thing they have ever heard on air. Ah cheers."
If Nick Kyrgios cares about his career and since sometimes he is so blasé about his success, wealth and professes his hate about tennis, he definitely needs some help.
