Henry Cavill Workout, Brothers, Girlfriend & More Interesting Facts About Superman & 'Man From U.N.C.L.E.' Actor

Henry Cavill is quite undeniably one of the sexiest actors to have appeared both on TV and the big screen. Armed with a ripped body, good looks and a number of movies on him, it is no surprise that the 32-year-old Brit has been making headlines these days.

And to those Cavill fans who want to know more about the actor, here is a list of the interesting facts about the "Man from U.N.C.L.E." star.

1. He is a "super" man

Superpowers aside, Henry has the discipline and attitude of a hero. He didn't get his barrel chest and huge biceps by just doing nothing. The 6'1" hunk underwent grueling body transformation, including a 1800-calorie diet for his Superman role in "Man of Steel."

"Superman isn't just about his strength or his abilities. It's more about determination in the face of a seemingly insurmountable problem, which is exactly how 305 pounds felt when I was stuck at the bottom of that front squat," Cavill told Muscle & Fitness of the intense workout he had to do in preparation of his superhero role.

2. He was Hollywood's "almost man"

Before he made it big landing leading roles in shows and movies like "The Tudors," "Immortals" and "Man of Steel," the Jersey-born actor had lost a number of high profile roles to other male stars earning him the reputation Hollywood's almost or nearly man.

Henry became a young contender for the role of James Bond in the 2006 flick "Casino Royale," but lost the role to Daniel Craig despite having performed in a final screen test, because producers thought he was too young for the character, as per IMDB.

He also auditioned and was highly considered for the role of Superman in "Superman Returns," but the role ultimately went to Brandon Routh.

Author Stephenie Meyer even based Edward Cullen's description in her "Twilight" novels on Henry and rooted for him to play the role. Unfortunately, he was too old to portray a 17-year-old by the time the film was produced, and so the role landed on Robert Pattinson, who also snatched the role of Cedric Diggory in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" from him.

3. He is a ladies' man

The "Count of Monte Cristo" actor has admitted to being bullied and called a lemon — a man who gets nowhere with women — in his younger years. Henry apparently is having the last laugh now that he has legions of women throwing themselves at his feet.

Among the women linked to him are Jillian Michaels (2007), Susie Redmond (2007), Maude Hirst (2009), Ellen Whitaker (2009-2012), Gina Carano (2012-2013), Kaley Cuoco (2013) and Marisa Gonzalo (2015).

Of all the ladies in the list, Ellen Whitaker came close to being Mrs. Cavill as she was once engaged to the star, according to Fashion & Style.

And Oh, the "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" star is currently back on the market.

 4. He has a big male family

Born to parents Marianne and Colin Richard Cavill, Henry is the second youngest son among five children.

His eldest brother, Piers, is an ex-army officer; Nick, the second eldest, is a major in the Royal Marines; Simon, the third child, works in financial services and Charlie, the youngest, is in marketing, henrycavill.org reported.

5. He was hailed as "Sexiest Man" by Glamour magazine in 2013.

There's really no need to explain why, just look at his shirtless scenes in "Man of Steel" and you'll get it.
